Sandy Bevan educational center began as a Community School that serves a vulnerable population of orphaned and needy children who often lack basic needs, including water, sanitation, and food. The existing infrastructure is inadequate, which impacts the quality of education and the overall well-being of the pupils. It was established in 2019 to provide less privileged children with education through early childhood development, primary education in order to prepare the learners fight poverty, being responsible learners, learning the basics of life, learn hoe to read and write be prepared for the future.
We have an enrollment of 100 pupils from the young age of 3 to 15 years, 10 teachers, 4 non-teaching staff members. We therefore have learners from nursery section to primary seven.
It’s a big challenge to the local community to send children to schools as most of the families can’t afford an education, since they struggle just to have one meal a day. Most of the families in the area survive on less than 3 Euros daily. Yet the government aided schools are not really free of charge, parents are required to pay a fee to the schools, the government schools are too distant that a child walks an hour to reach them; and the challenged children cannot be helped in this sort of a learning situation so most of them are left home or rather dropout of schools. So, Sandy Bevan Educational Center was founded to handle such problems and offer free education to such needy little children. But we still lack some school necessities.
